The very first iHeartRadio Music Awards went down at The Shrine in Los Angeles, A.K.A The City of Angels and a list of other nicknames. L.A. has been credited as the city where many of the biggest stars kicked off of their careers, and the place that helped shape them.

During the awards, many of your favorite artists shared their "L.A. Stories." The stories that helped shape them and their careers.

-Coldplay's Chris Martin said that his first memory of L.A. was getting to sit in the cockpit of the 747 plane he was on during his first trip there back in 2000. He said, "The magic for me [in LA] is that nothing seems impossible but you have to make it for yourself."

-John Legend explained that he first met his now-wife Christine Teigen while in Los Angeles on the set of a music video of his. He said his love affair with Los Angeles began with his love affair with his wife.

-Macklemore and Ryan Lewis talked about renting a pirate ship for their "Can't Hold Us" music video ... and getting sea-sick in the process!

-Kendrick Lamar mentioned seeing Tupac shooting a music video when he was 8 years old at the Compton Fashion Center.

-Steven Tyler talked about the Sunset Marquis being "party central," their famous pool, and having "nights you'll never remember with friends you'll never forget" there.
